Beer Can Chicken
« on: October 04, 2014, 08:26:50 PM »
Don't knock it until you try it! It's one of the juiciest chickens I've ever head. And so full of flavor!!! How I make it:

1 hole chicken
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp of Old Bay
1 can of beer (I find 16oz can works the best size wise)

Put on a pre-heated grill for an hour set to medium-low heat or internal temp reaches 200F

Let your inter redneck out and give it a try!!!

i agree. i have two chickens to put on the grill tomorrow. they really are fool-proof. very juicy and great flavor. mine usually take 1.5 to 2 hours to cook. i use a charcoal grill though. don't forget to add whatever spices you put on the bird into your beer can.

I don't know. I've never tried one. But, I may try putting a few leftover hops in my next one and see!

Beer can Chicken is on of my favorites!! I have done it about 5 times a year for the past 8 years or so, and always with a different beer and spices. At the apts. I have lived in for the last few years I am not allowed to have a large grill so I have removed the top oven rack and done it in the oven at 375 for an hour and a half, still comes out fine. Next one I make I plan to try some of my mead in an empty coke can with some complimentary spices.... Will let ya'll know how it comes out

I tuck garlic cloves under the skin, and drape bacon from the neck hole down on the outside.  Cheers!

This is what happened when missus BB let me in command for the Sunday dinner:

I used a Brewdog 77 Lager. Next time I will throw in some hops.
Quote of BB:    I think I've passed that point where I'm no longer under the influence of alcohol. The alcohol is actually under my influence..

FV 1: USB Porter OG: 1.090
FV 2: Network Porter OG: 1.040

Tap 1: Solid IPA 7% ABV
Tap 2: BB's Ginger Brew 6,5
Keg 3 & 4: Clean Slate Saison 17

I should add: If you haven't tried this with bacon yet, you need to go shopping and make this up. I ate so much, Mrs. BB wanted to book an appointment to have me ultrasound checked
