Crushed
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:03:44 PM »
So I brewed today and while brewing I have a one gallon aluminum pot that I use to boil water for washing yeast. So while brewing I decided to wash some yeast during the mash. Boiled some water cooled it down in the sink, no problem's washed some yeast. Then I decided I still had some time so I had another jug and did it again, boiled about one liter of water put it in the sink to cool, and BANG! the pot crushed. The lid must of sealed tight.
I have done this for a few years with this pot never had a problem. So if your doing this when you put your pot in the water bath take the lid off or dry the top good.
Lesson learned for me :)

Wow that is insane! sorry to hear you lost equipment one of these pots are not cheap, but man that is insane never seen this happen before to anyone, must have been some kind of perfect condition that happened for it to get such a perfect seal in the lid. I seen an experiment on youtube where they used a large storage tank to show the power of this and the sound it makes is scary.
