Muntons Old conkerwood black ale
« on: December 15, 2017, 04:28:44 PM »
Hello

My Munton extract kit has been in my fermenter for 15 days, and the hydrometer shows 1015/1016. the airlock has been quiet for a while.

is it too early to bottle it?

the yeast i use is muntons Premium (x IOB 6g)

and my fermenting room is always stabile at 20-21c/69-70f

this is a dark/black ale, and the reason i am a bit careful is the high gravety? and i want to re-use the yeast, since it is the "best" from muntons.

last month i made a mexican cerveza, in one week it fermented from -1055og to 1000fg (one week) and one week ageing in bottle and it was ready to drink:)  this With regular yeast.

should of asked the OG also, had a few beers by then :)
i have let my beer sit in primary for 21 days with no issues.
so if you have the time let it sit a few more days.
also if you take 2 more readings a few days apart and its still 1.015 your good to go.

I just kegged and bottled a Molasses Porter i did about 2 weeks ago the OG was 1.048 and FG 1.008.
I used US-05 which on average for me takes everything down to 1.006-1012 if i stay under 1.055 for an OG
ah yes Winter is coming  8)

the final gravety was high, 1014/1015

i bottled it and it went well!

the taste is good, the best serv temp is about 13 degrees, i messed up the carbonation, but i have many bottles and many of them is good:)

the digital alcoholmeter shows 8%
