Whirlpool/ aeration paddle?
« on: January 22, 2018, 12:14:44 PM »
Hello!

I am thinking of buying this "Paint blender" and use it as a whirlpool/ aeration paddle.

It's not labeled what kind of metal it is, so i'm not sure if it's foodgrade.

But i am wondering if it will do the job.

What do u think?

I think you should be just fine.  Just wash it and sanitize it effectively before you dip that into your chilled wort to aerate.

Be careful and make sure this thing isn't plated metal. I had a zinc coated heating element that started flaking off the coating into my wort due to the low ph. You obviously don't want that. They make all metal wine degassers that would work perfect for what you're trying to do.

here is one made for homebrewing, if that one shows any signs of flaking or anything else questionable.

Good call guys... Don't want to have anything flaking off and contaminating the brew.
