Burner purchase
« on: April 02, 2018, 09:42:10 PM »
So I pulled the trigger on a propane burner. Bought a Bayou Classic Banjo burner KAB4.

Boy does this thing come with a lot of warnings.

Don't use indoors (duh), don't use on a deck, don't use with-in 10 ft of a building, don't use ..., don't use..., don't use...,

Are these things this prone to catching everything on fire or is the manufacturer going overboard in the cya area.

I'd be interested in any feedback.

Thanks all

my old propane burner has a stand that is about 2foot tall.
I use it on my back porch, even in the winter with it closed in  :o but i open the door and use a small fan to move the air. I never felt dizzy or anything from using it like that unless you include having a few home brews  ;)
they have to put all those warnings on them to try and give some people common sense :)
I have heard people doing stupid things with turkey fryers like putting it in the hot oil frozen  :o
then boom turkey flying through the air and hot oil everywhere.
but most home brewers dont use it for frying just boiling. so if your brewing beer no worries boiling on your back deck or porch. just be smart keep it at least 4 feet from the siding on the house and if it boils over grab the hose and wash the porch down quick or it will stain the wood.
but dont use it in your garage closed in, I saw an apprentice using a cement mixer in a tent go down from carbon monoxide in the tent they had setup. he was almost dead if my buddy didnt grab our O2 tank and slap it on him. the other guys didnt even think to drag him out until we got out there. so be careful using it thats all.
