Beer Engine
« on: April 26, 2018, 06:40:33 AM »
I am a lazy bastard and impatient as well.
My idea was to drop the whole batch into a cask and use a beer pump/engine to fill a mug.
I live in an RV and the Mrs. tolerates the brewing and the drinking, she just doesn't want a kegerator in the motorhome.
I thought I could put the beer in the 'basement' and pump it up to fill a mug. I just bottled a batch and I am really missing my kegerator and 14 kegs (at my son-in-law's house). We just made 10 gallons of 'Sumkinda' IPA with 25# 2-row, 1# crystal, 4 oz. Citra, 4 oz. Cascade & 4 oz. Warrior, 2 hour mash + 1 hour hop boil with the hops left in the fermenter after the US-05 was pitched. It's 'Sumkinda' IPA, WTF! We will keg in a week or so.
So, has anyone used a beer pump or engine to fill a glass?

Nice seeing ya back steamyb  :)
I have never used one myself.
you my have to do what my father did years ago on their motorhome.
we welded a deck on the back bumper so he could put a generator that we bolted down and it had wire mesh around it. so maybe you could do the same and stick the kegerator out the back  ;D
my parents motorhome was a 1971 dodge it had shag carpet and we had to do a lot of work on it.
i dont remember the model, but i called it a tissue box on wheels. they used to go to nascar races with it and had a blast. hope all is well with you and your family

Hey combat! Good to hear from you. I call my RV "the Cracker Box" since that is the design feature and it's full of 'crackers'! It's a '98 Fleetwood Flair and it already has the generator but I can't add anything to the bumper because I tow a Honda Accord.
The fridge is too small for a keg and the baby 2.5 kegs are stupid expensive. I also just gave away (basically) $2K worth of brewing stuff, so I have trouble justifying beer equipment purchases. I really miss that Brew pot! I guess I will just fill a growler and make big batches when I am in town. Those 750ml Cooper's bottles are a righteous pour! 17!

Traveling mostly Mid-Atlantic and Southern states. St. Petersburg FL to New Orleans Louisiana, up to St. Louis, MO and over to Lancaster, PA then back to NC. We plan to spend 2 months spring and fall in NC, then north in summer and south in winter.
After 1.5 years at this, I wish I would have done this 40 years ago! It's a great life and with technology, now is the best time to go nomadic!
There is also no shortage of Craft beer here in the States. If I just visited only breweries, I would see a new one every day!
So how are you doing combat? I see you are brewing up a storm, making beer is kinda addictive, it's so much fun! 17!

doing good, glad to hear you are enjoying your retirement.
yeah brewing is addictive, even though it takes up half a day on Saturday or Sunday I still love to do it, plus the reward is great ;)

So I taught my son-in-law how to brew in 25 gallon pot and we kegged it last Saturday. Wow, awesome first brew and he is hooked. Loves drinking his own homebrew! Kegerator in the living room with the big screen TV!
I bought a Cooper's kit and made a batch of ale. It is stored under a seat and I replace what I drink out of the baby RV fridge. It works and I can pick up beer kits as I roll, no problems. If I park for a month, I make a batch. Life is good! 17!
