Adding grains to in prove a extract kit

Hi all I'm wanting to branch out from doing just extract kit I'll be using coopers canadian blonde I have picked up canadian  2 row and Gambrinus honey malt was thinking to add 100 grams of each to my kit  I will be using my extract with 500 G corn sugar and 700 G light dry malt extract any thoughts on this greatly appreciated

sounds good, are you going to try and do a mini mash or just steeping?
the 2 row should be mashed IMO, but i have steeped it too.
2 row is a base malt that we get our sugars from  :)
specialty malts like crystal 10l-120l and chocolate malt are great for steeping.
if you steep them at 150f-170F for 30 minutes you should notice a difference in your beer.
it should have a little more body and some freshness to it.
go easy with the honey malt, it tends to leave some sweetness behind. at least thats what i have found. did you get the grains crushed already?

Update I have started this brew  2 row 437 G honey malt 407 G  corn sugar 505 G dme light 510 G can coopers real ale  coopers yeast after bout 10 hours air lock going crazy like I've used turbo yeast lol  now 20 hours since pitching my yeast bubbling normal  starting gravity 1.048

great, remember give it the full 14 days before bottling or kegging.
the yeast need time to clean up the mess they made ;)

That brew sounds like is will be nice. I recently did a Coopers Canadian blonde with just a steep of 150g of Crystal 60, all DME and some simcoe hops, turned out fantastic. Using an alternative to the Coopers yeast is a good idea as well, Us-05 is a great yeast to use over the supplied kit yeast. Used as a base these kits can be tweaked to get a great brew.
Let us know how it turns out.
