I need 1 lb of corn sugar but the HBS is out can i use table sugar and if so how much would i need?

i always figure about the same amount for table sugar.
if your worried try using 3/4 lb in your brew.
but if you have any brewing software you can see if you swap out dextrose for sugar it stays the same. i have had great results using both.

Ya, what are you making?

A pound of brown sugar may be an option as well for a bit more character than straight sugar. Sucrose does give a cider like vibe when used in large amounts, dextrose (corn sugar) not so much.

Its just a simple lager recipe i found online. 3lb DME 1lb corn sugar .75lb flaked corn .75lb 2 row american pale and two .25oz columbus hop additions. If anyone knows a better recipe im still new to brewing and would love to try it.

is that a 5 gallon or 2.5 gallon batch?
the 17 Pale was a great beer, i forget if we made a extract for it though.
IMHO i would drop the sugar and add another 2 lbs of DME
steep the 2 row and flaked corn for 30 min at 160F
i would go with 1/2oz at 40min
and 1/2 oz at 5min
are you using US-05? if you are ferment it @65F for the 14 days
but thats me  ;)

Its a 5 gallon. I will try it with the extra DME and drop the sugar. I have a mini fridge with a temp controller so i will do the 65 and see what i get.

i made up a quick recipe sheet for you if you want  8)
The grains are in the mash section dont worry just steep them 160F for 30min.
you should get a nice beer.
