Upgraded to BeerSmith 3
« on: October 16, 2018, 07:49:56 PM »
I decided to upgrade to BeerSmith 3 for a number of simple reasons . . .

-  Brad still kept the price incredibly reasonable for what you get.

-  I admit that I am extremely anal about logs and brew day documentation.  But when I purchased BeerSmith a few years ago all of those logs (or at least 90% of them) were no longer necessary.  The only brew day paperwork that I print out now is just a simple Brew Day Checklist that is specific for my brewstand and other equipment.  I find the checklist very useful because my brew day is also my day off to multitask and do other chores around the house.  So the checklist keeps me on track so I don't miss a step while doing other things.

-  BeerSmith 3 now comes with a Cloud storage feature and 2 license agreements.  This allows me to develop my recipes or enter other people's recipes from my home office computer, then lock down the recipe so it can be brewed again in the future, move an unlocked copy of the recipe to the Cloud, and then bring the recipe up on my brewstand computer so I can see the recipe, use the brew session timers, and enter the session data "live" without having to run back to the home office computer or make notes that would have to be entered back in the home office computer later on.

Here is a copy from the BeerSmith website of what you get . . .

Hi Karen
not sure what your asking?
here is a link to the Beersmith website with prices. The support for Beersmith is great, i dont use it yet, but they have answered some of my questions about the software in the past.

Here is a pic of the equipment profiles that are currently available in BeerSmith 3.

Nothing specific for the GrainFather yet, but that brewstand is so popular now I'm sure you can find something in the BeerSmith forums to create your own custom equipment profile.

My custom profile in this pic is simply call "Brew Stand".

Setting up your own Equipment Profile is pretty simple.  All I had to do is basically figure out and enter what my dead space is below the false bottom, and then it took a few tweaks to dial in how much strike water to add for the "Mash In" step.  That ratio is in the "Mash Profiles" section.  Adjust the number depending upon if your "Mash In" turns out too dry or too soupy.
