If your talking about the yeast that the "The Alchemist" heady topper uses, it is Conan yeast or gigayeast GY054.  I am trying to grow a culture up from a can of heady topper. if im successful maybe i can send you some :)

I don’t know if that is the same. Are you familiar with this milkshake IPA style? I have had 2 recently and the can spells out the yeast as Vermont yeast. The beers we very murky like a wheat beer, not sure if that is the yeast or not. I have not done any research on the style yet, just thought I would throw it out there.

i think some have flaked oats and wheat to make them murky and lactose. i have read some recipes use fruits and vanilla beans also. yeast varies from gigayeast GY054, Omega Hothead, wlp095, imperial A38 and wyeast 1318. hops alot and very late, plus dry hop. been thinking of trying one of these too. I was trying to figure out a beer to do with Black Dog Brewery, maybe we can do a New England and Canada IPA version. let me know what you think.

I looked it up,there are some Vermont yeasts available. Seems an interesting yeast that has a decent temp range for the average brewer. This milkshake ipa is a cool style.

Milkshake IPA?

Hmmm? . . . Never heard of that style, but I'm very curious.

Any recipe recommendations as far as what you would brew?

I'd like to learn some more about the style.
Cheers & 17,

I just discovered this style myself so I don’t have any recipes yet. Do a google search and you will find info on them. Seems the trick is adding lactose and oats to the recipe and it makes for a cloudy rich style of the IPA.

I love Omega yeast, but the DIPA yeast, which was supposedly cultured from Heady, has severely disappointed me when making a NE IPA. Just my opinion

I'm fairly new to home brewing - I have done about 4 - so I'm still trying to get the ropes.

I've begun to venture out past recommendations online and, in my search for new ideas, I noticed that a lot of my favourite NEIPA/DIPAs use the WLP 4000 yeast. I checked it out online, but its pretty much impossible to get. I can't find it anywhere.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for yeast that's similar to this, or if anybody has a recommendation of where I could get this from in the UK.

For style notes, I'm looking for something real juicy and funky. I love a good NEIPA, so anything towards this would be great.

i have been looking at doing a Raw ale and found alot of brewers use Hothead yeast by Omega.
supposedly it has some fruity esters that go well with NEIPA hops.
i think Gigayeast makes a version of the wlp4000 strain also i think its Vermont IPA.
oh yeah Welcome aboard

I think some have chipped oats and wheat to make them dim and lactose. I have perused a few plans use foods grown from the ground beans moreover.

I used WLP066 London Fog for one of my NEIPAs this year, worked great added to the juicy fruity flavor
I also tried WLP008 East Coast Ale just as good. but when i brew again I will try the WLP066 again.
hope that helps
